Syndicating product reviews across multiple storefronts allows you to better utilise your content from multiple markets and helps to build customer trust.

Okendo simplifies the syndication process by linking products across storefronts using a unique identifier tag that acts as a common connection between the corresponding products.

Using product tags in Shopify provides an easy way to identify products across multiple storefronts when it is not possible to use more common identifiers such as product handle or variant SKU.

Tag format for syndicating reviews

Tags used to link products across different storefronts must follow a specific format

_okendo:syndication_key:ProductName

When using tags for syndication, you must ensure the same tag is applied to each relevant product across storefronts.

Example:

  • Product A on Store X: _okendo:syndication_key:pine_tar_soap

  • Product A on Store Y: _okendo:syndication_key:pine_tar_soap

Things to note while adding the tags:

  • Double-check that the tags are identical across stores to ensure proper syndication.

  • The tag value should be unique for each product group but consistent between linked products.


Adding syndication tags in Shopify

From your Shopify admin, go to Products and click into the product that you want to syndicate.

In Product Organization, add your tag following the format _okendo:syndication_key:ProductName in the Tags field and click Save.

Repeat for each storefront where you want reviews to syndicate.


Activating syndication using tags

Once you have added tags across all the relevant products, contact the support team by emailing support@okendo.io.

In the email include:

  • Details of the storefronts involved

  • Confirmation that tags have been applied correctly.

Can I syndicate imported reviews?

Yes, syndication using tags works for all review channels including imported reviews.

Does the verified status impact review syncing?

No, the verified status does not impact review syndication.

How long does the syndication process take?

Once the support request is submitted, our team will assess what is required and will respond with the estimated timeframes and next steps for activation. This step may take up to 48 hours.

Can I change syndication tags later?

Yes, but any changes must be updated across all relevant storefronts, and a new request must be submitted to the support team to update your account.
