How the integration works
Most of the technical setup is handled between Okendo and Bazaarvoice β here's what the process looks like end to end:
You acquire a Bazaarvoice contract directly with Bazaarvoice.
Bazaarvoice contacts Okendo's Support Team with the necessary credentials.
Okendo enables the integration, which sends the following to Bazaarvoice:
Product catalog β product details from Shopify, including product names, URLs, and UPCs/GTINs/EANs (pulled from the barcode field in Shopify). Okendo sends an updated catalog every 24 hours.
Reviews via API β new reviews submitted through a review request email or the Write a Review button are sent to Bazaarvoice in real time.
Content import file (optional) β a bulk export of your existing reviews from Okendo. Contact Bazaarvoice to confirm whether this is included in your contract.
Bazaarvoice ingests the data and syncs your reviews with retailers using the product UPCs/GTINs/EANs.
π‘ UPCs/GTINs/EANs are the key to matching your products with the correct retailer listings. Make sure these are populated in the barcode field of your Shopify products before the integration goes live.
FAQs
Why are my reviews not showing on the retailer's site?
The most common reason is a UPC mismatch. Make sure the correct UPCs are added to your products in Shopify. You can manage this efficiently using the Shopify Product Bulk Editor. For example:
If you have imported reviews after the integration was enabled, they will not be pushed to Bazaarvoice automatically. Reach out to Bazaarvoice and ask whether they can accept an additional content import file for your historical reviews.
What if I can't add UPCs directly in Shopify?
We can prepare a variant file for you. You'll need to provide your Shopify product IDs in the first column and the corresponding UPCs in the second column. Multiple UPCs can be added to a single row, separated by commas. Once complete, share it in your thread with Bazaarvoice and the Okendo team will forward it via SFTP. For example:
Can syndicated reviews from other Shopify stores or the Shop App be sent to Bazaarvoice?
No, this is not supported. You may be able to use the same Bazaarvoice credentials across multiple storefronts β check with Bazaarvoice directly.
How long does it take for reviews to appear on retailer sites?
Timeframes vary by retailer. Check with Bazaarvoice directly for the most accurate estimate.
Are Okendo product groups sent to Bazaarvoice?
No. However, you can sync reviews to multiple retailer products by adding the same UPC to multiple Shopify products. The reverse also works β multiple Shopify products can sync to a single retailer product using the same UPC.
