Customize the call-to-action (CTA) buttons on your quiz's recommendation page to drive the actions that matter most after completion. You can configure both a primary and secondary action for greater flexibility and personalization.

In this article, you will learn about;

Use cases for customizing CTAs

By default, the primary CTA for a quiz is set to add to cart for each product. However, other CTAs may make more sense depending on your product type and vertical.

  1. Drive engagement with blog content
Link to educational or inspirational blog posts related to the product. For example:

    • A skincare brand can direct customers to a blog about proper application techniques.

    • A homewares store might link to a guide on styling the product in different settings.

  2. Appointment booking
Use CTAs to connect customers with appointment booking pages for services like:

    • Fittings or consultations for apparel, accessories, or homeware such as bedding.

    • Demo sessions.

  3. Custom product calculators
If your product requires configuration or estimation, direct customers to tools like:

    • Quantity or size calculators (e.g., pet food or pool cleaning).

    • Price calculators for custom-built or personalized items.

  4. Deep linking for targeted product info

    • Product-specific FAQs.

    • Reviews or testimonials for individual products.

  5. Customer support and help
If a product may require extra guidance, link the CTA to:

    • A detailed how-to guide or custom routine.

    • A customer support page or live chat.

Customizing the CTAs and button text

Follow the steps below to customize CTAs for your quiz's recommendation pages.

  1. Access the recommendation page settings

    • Edit a quiz, click the Configure tab, and expand the Recommendations Page section.

    • Locate the Call To Actions settings.

  2. Configure the primary action

    • Choose from the following options for the primary CTA:

      • Add to Cart — Adds the product to the customer's cart directly.

      • View Product — Links to the product detail page. Ideal for high-value products or when customers need more information before purchasing.

      • Custom — Specify a custom URL using tags like {{ product.id }} and {{ variant.id }}. These tags make the link dynamic for each recommended product, as long as a corresponding page has been created in Shopify with the product or variant IDs. For example:

        https://okendocosmetics.com/pages/blog-8219815575808
  3. Configure the secondary action

    • Select from the following options for the secondary CTA:

      • None — No secondary action displayed.

      • Add to Cart

      • View Product

      • Custom

  4. Customize button text

    • Use the Primary Action Button Text and Secondary Action Button Text fields to set the text displayed on each button — for example, "Learn More" or "Shop Now."

  5. Save changes and preview

    • Save your updates and preview the recommendation page to confirm the CTAs display correctly.
