This guide provides a high-level overview of the workflows and concepts that underpin enrolment in an Okendo-powered loyalty program.

In this article, you’ll learn about:

  • Loyalty States

  • Important Points to Note

Loyalty States

Customers engage with Okendo Loyalty onsite via the Floating Widget, Loyalty Page or Banner Widget. How these display to customers will depend on whether the customer has logged into their Shopify store account and if they have enrolled in the merchant's loyalty program.

1. Customer not logged into Shopify store account

Okendo Loyalty is underpinned by Shopify’s customer accounts. Refer to Shopify’s help article on the different types. Customers who aren’t logged into their Shopify store account will see Okendo Loyalty in the following state. They can view what actions will earn points and the types of coupons they can redeem. However, they will be prohibited from redeeming coupons.

By selecting Log In, customers are redirected to the store's log in page, to sign in to their store account. A member's experience will vary depending on the type of customer accounts implemented on the store:

  • If customer accounts are enabled, customers will be prompted to enter their email address only. A one-time code will then be sent to their email address. Customers must retrieve that code and enter it, as part of the log in process. It should be noted that at this point, Shopify will either complete the log in process or, where necessary, create a store account for the customer, before logging them in.

  • If legacy customer accounts are enabled, customers will be taken to a screen to enter their email address and password. If they do not have a store account, they can select Create account.

  • To complete the enrolment process, customers open any Okendo Loyalty onsite display (ie the Floating Widget, the Loyalty Page or the Banner Widget) and select the Join & Agree call to action.

2. Logged Into Shopify store account and Enrolled member status

Members who are logged into their Shopify store account and had enrolled in the merchant's loyalty program previously, will see Okendo Loyalty in this state. Members can view their points balance and actions that will earn them points. They will also be able to redeem coupons (provided they have sufficient points).

3. Logged in to Shopify store account and Pending member status

In this scenario, customers have a Shopify store account, but have not opted in to the merchant’s loyalty program (ie they have pending member loyalty status). Customers are shown their current points balance and are prompted to Join & Agree, to enrol in the merchant’s loyalty program.

Important Points to Note

Capturing Points/Coupons Earned from Pending Members

Okendo Loyalty allows customers to accumulate points without joining the merchant's loyalty program. However, a customer must join the program to redeem and use coupons. Points earned between the program launch date or program back-date (if used) and join date, will be attributed to the customer.
