Customization Tip

Reward Program Name

The name of the Loyalty program, visible to customers.

Merchants can opt to create a unique brand name for their Loyalty program to enhance memorability and align with their brand identity.

Reward Currency Name

The name of the currency earned by customers and used to redeem rewards, when participating in the Loyalty program.

Typically, most merchants will select ‘points’ as the reward currency name, but we encourage merchants to brainstorm other options that might resonate better with their brand.

Reward Currency Name (Plural)

The pluralized form of the currency name.

Consistency with the singular form and simplicity is key.

Points Expire

Merchants can decide when customer points will expire.

There are two options:

  • “Never”: Under this setting, customers will accumulate points indefinitely; and

  • “After 1 Year of Inactivity”: Points will expire 1 year after being awarded to customers., unless the customer places an order or performs another earn or redemption action within the loyalty program.

Merchants should choose an expiration option aligned with their program's goals and customer behavior.

Spend

Order Spend

Merchants determine how order spending is calculated for awarding points and VIP Tier eligibility. Specifically, if subtotal, taxes or shipping will be included.

For example, for an order that contains $150 of goods, $15 in taxes and $20 in shipping costs:

  • With all three options selected, “spend” will be calculated as $185.

  • If only subtotal and taxes are selected, then “spend” will be calculated as $165

Merchants should carefully consider which parts of an order's total cost contribute to points and VIP Tier eligibility.

Backdate Program

Backdate Program Start

This setting allows prior customer purchases, to contribute to a customer’s points balance and VIP tier spend, when the program is launched.

NOTE: This setting cannot be changed once the loyalty program is launched.

Incentivize customers to become loyalty members, by giving them a points ‘boost’, from the start.

NOTE: If you intend to import customer and points data from your previous loyalty provider, we do not recommend you backdate program start, as this could result in customers being awarded double points for certain purchases.

Program Start Date

Enter a program start date to determine which existing customer purchases contribute to points and VIP Tiers.

Okendo includes any purchases with an order date on or after the program start date.

NOTE: This setting cannot be changed once the loyalty program is launched.

Merchants can specify a program start date up to 12 months prior to loyalty program launch.

NOTE: If you intend to import customer and points data from your previous loyalty provider, we do not recommend you backdate program start, as this could result in customers being awarded double points for certain purchases.

Discounts

Discount Combinations

Select whether discounts generated via Okendo Loyalty can be combined with order discounts, product discounts or shipping discounts, generated by Shopify.

Discounts are subject to Shopify discount combinations rules.

NOTE: All discounts to be combined, must be set to combine.

For example to combine a product discount with an order discount, a product discount must be set to combine with an order discount and an order discount must be set to combine with a product discount.

VIP Program settings

VIP tiers can be enabled in a merchant’s loyalty program. This allows members to be separated into tiers, based on their spend. The more a member spends, the higher tier they achieve and the more favorable the earn rules, rewards and perks they receive.

Customization Tip

Tier Eligibility Period

This setting looks at spend during the selected period, to determine whether a member is promoted/demoted to a different tier or remains on their current tier.

This setting can be set to Rolling Year (reviews spend within a rolling 12 months prior, from the current date) or Lifetime (reviews spend since program start date or program back date)

Launch VIP Program

This setting will launch VIP Tiers to a merchants store and assign merchants to their appropriate tiers based on their historical spend (since the program back date or when the program was launched).

This setting will only appear, if a merchant launched their loyalty program, before their VIP Tiers

Import settings

Import settings allow merchants to import member loyalty data in a CSV file, outside of the onboarding assistant. More information about importing loyalty data can be found here.

Blocklist settings

Merchants can prevent members (both pending and enrolled) with specific Shopify customer tags, from accessing loyalty.

Customer Tags Blocklist

Restrict members from accessing a loyalty program by adding their Shopify customer tags to the blocklist.

Members must not have any of the customer tags specified in the blocklist, to access a merchant's loyalty program.

NOTE: Okendo Loyalty syncs customer tags from Shopify. If you have a large member base, this may take some time.
