Overview
From February 2025, new Okendo Surveys merchants must use Shopify’s Post-Checkout UI Extensions to run post-checkout surveys.
Deadlines for existing merchants:
Shopify Plus: upgrade by August 28, 2025
Non-Plus: upgrade by August 26, 2026
Reason: Shopify is removing support for ScriptTags and legacy
checkout.liquidon Thank You and Order Status pages.
Steps
1. Assess Current Post-Checkout Setup
Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Checkout.
Look for an upgrade notice at the top of the page regarding Thank You and Order Status pages.
Merchants who have not upgraded may also see a banner on their Shopify admin homepage like below notifying them to upgrade your Thank You & Order Status pages.
Within the Okendo Surveys post-checkout channel you will also see a banner like this.

2. Review Customizations in Shopify’s Upgrade Guide
Check:
Compatible apps
Incompatible apps (especially using ScriptTags)
Custom scripts /
checkout.liquiddependencies
3. Merchants Should Replace Deprecated Customizations
Use UI extensions, web pixels, or app blocks.
Work with developers for complex changes.
4. Add Okendo Post-Checkout Survey Block
Once the Thank You & Order Status pages have been upgraded merchants can add the Okendo post-checkout survey block.

5. Deadlines
Merchants must upgrade by these dates:
Plus: August 28, 2025
Non-Plus: August 26, 2026
Missing deadlines will result in a loss of post-checkout survey functionality.
FAQs
Q1: What happens if I don’t upgrade by the deadline?
You’ll lose post-checkout surveys and any customizations using ScriptTags or checkout.liquid.
Q2: How do I know if I’m already using the new Checkout pages?
If there’s no upgrade notice in Shopify Admin → Settings → Checkout or under the Okendo Surveys Post-Checkout channel you’re likely already upgraded.
Q3: Will I lose my current Thank You page customizations?
Only if you rely on checkout.liquid or ScriptTags, they must be rebuilt.
Q4: Will Okendo help me upgrade?
We’ll guide you and help re-add surveys, but you may need a developer for other scripts or contact reps for other apps you have installed.
Q6: Do I need to change my Okendo Surveys after the upgrade?
Just re-add the Okendo Surveys app block. There are certain limitations around styling and customization imposed by Shopify for checkout UI extensions - refer to our help doc for more info.
Q7: When should I upgrade?
Before the deadlines but ideally as soon as possible.
Q8: Can I use the legacy checkout pages but migrate from ScriptTags to Web Pixels?
Shopify Web Pixels don't allow Okendo to inject post-checkout survey elements. You must upgrade your checkout and add our post-checkout UI extension.
